Local Governments have a general power to provide for the good government of the people in their district. This means that local governments can do things for the good government of their districts if they are not prevented from doing so by the Local Government Act 1995 or any other written law.

In exercising this general power, a local government can make local laws (legislative function) and provide services and facilities (executive function).

Keeping of Cats Local Law To provide for the keeping and welfare of cats and reduce the nuisance to the community and to promote the protection of native fauna.
Dogs Local Law To provide for the control, impoundment and keeping of dogs, issuing of kennel license, fees and penalties.
Extractive Industries To regulate the carrying on of an extractive industry, including conditions of licensing, fees for licenses, penalties and requirements for issue of licences.
Fencing Local Law To regulate the manner in which, and materials of which, fences and walls may be erected. Prescribing what are sufficient and dangerous fences.
Health Local Laws To provide for the protection of the community with regard to Council's responsibilities under the Health Act 1911.
Signs Local Law To provide for the control and management of signs, including size and design, licensing, removing and penalties.
Standing Orders Regulating the proceedings of all Council, Committee, Ratepayers and Electors Meetings.
Repeal Local Law To make a Local Law to repeal Local Laws that are no longer required, as they are considered obsolete.
Thoroughfares Local Law To consolidate various local laws relating to activities in thoroughfares and trading in thoroughfares and public places.
Property Local Law To regulate the care, control and management of all property of the local government except thoroughfares.
Cemeteries Local Law To provide for the control and management of public cemeteries within the Shire.
Establishment, Maintenance & Equipment of Bushfire Brigades To provide for the establishment and maintenance of Bushfire Brigades, including duties of Officers, financial commitments and membership requirements.
Parking Local Law This Local Law is for the purpose of establishing a parking region for the district of the Shire of Mundaring and enforcing parking restrictions in the region.
