SHIRE of Mundaring's Celebration of Ability Award returns in 2017, with nominations now open.
The Celebration of Ability Award is an annual award which acknowledges those who include people with disability in their business, community and personal activities.
The launch of the Award coincides with International Day of People with Disability on Saturday 3 December.
Shire President David Lavell said people assisting in the area of disability play many vital roles.
"The Award recognises people in both paid and volunteer roles who made a real difference to the lives of others by easing some of the social isolation that can be experienced by people with disability," he said.
"People who work in this area can also assist to provide work opportunities, advocacy or provide inclusive activities."
Cr Lavell said the award had been running in the Shire for many years.
"This is one small way we can show appreciation for those working in the field of disability and we encourage residents to consider nominating someone who is a local champion for people with disability," he said.
Nomination forms are available at several locations including the Shire Administration Building, local libraries, The Hub of the Hills, Mundaring Sharing, Mundaring Community Bank Branch Bendigo Bank and Rise.
For information about the Award or to have a nomination form posted to you please phone Strategic and Community Services on 9290 6718 or email email@example.com.
