RESULTS from the recent community engagement regarding Mundaring Council's Rates and Services Proposal are now available.
The proposal was developed to look at ways to reduce rate increases over the next four years. This has been achieved with a forecast rate increase of approximately three-and-a-half percent instead of five percent.
The community engagement was conducted by an independent party and the results were presented to councillors over the course of several workshops
The community participated in both telephone and 'Have Your Say' surveys, the outcomes of which have guided Council in its direction setting on rate levels and service levels, including the retention of existing services.
The telephone survey addressed 400 randomly selected people within the Shire of Mundaring. The same questions were provided in a questionnaire and it was made available to all residents (both online and in hard copy). The Shire received 530 responses to this survey method.
Other key factors which were taken into consideration during the review process include cost, risks associated with reducing certain service levels, the impact of proposed changes and the current usage of services.
Council will make its final decision in relation to rate levels and service levels at a Special Council Meeting in July.
