Youth Instagram competition extended

AN INSTAGRAM competition for youths has been extended to give more residents the chance to win.

Shire of Mundaring recently launched an Instagram account, kicking it off with a competition.

Shire President David Lavell said engaging with our youth was important.

"Our youth of today are digital natives - they were born into the world of technology and it's clear to see they readily embrace it," he said.

"The Shire is keen to engage with them on platforms they are comfortable with and this included Instagram.

"Hearing the voice of our youths and better understanding their needs is really important."

Cr Lavell said youths aged 13 to 18 could win a great prize in the competition.

"To enter the competition youth simply have to take a photo or short video of what they enjoy doing in their local area and send it to us on Instagram," he said.

"A mini iPad is up for grabs, so that's a great prize for very little work."

The competition has been extended until Monday 4 April. Youths must get permission from a parent/carer to take part. All photos need to be hashtagged with #whatthehilludoin. Private accounts must send entries to the Shire account via direct message to be recorded.
