There are about 118 native species of birds in the area. Many of these are specialised insect, seed or nectar feeders and as such are dependent on the presence of specific vegetation types. Three of the bird species listed as rare are the Peregrine Falcon, Carnaby's Black Cockatoo and Baudin's Black Cockatoo.
