Planning Approvals
Home > Resident Services > Planning > Planning Approvals

All development or use of land other than the construction of a house and certain outbuildings requires planning approval. Planning applications are assessed against Town Planning Scheme No. 3 and sometimes involve consultation with the community and relevant State Government agencies.

Applications must include the Shire of Mundaring Form 1, signatures of all land owners, 3 copies of all required plans and the correct Planning Service fee.

Most applications for planning approval can be dealt with at Officer level, however certain applications may need the approval of Council, which may lengthen the processing time.

Shire staff will endeavour to deal with your application as soon as possible, and will advise you should the approval of Council be required and if there are any further actions to be carried out by yourself.

These actions may include:

  • Providing further plans or more detailed plans
  • Clarification of details relating to the application
  • Referring the application to neighbouring property owners for their comment

If an application is to be determined by Council at its monthly meeting the processing time will be lengthened.

Applications for planning approval will normally take between 4 - 8 weeks to complete. If Planning Approval is granted, it is usually subject to a range of conditions that must be met before the issue of a building licence, prior to the occupancy of the development or the commencement of use.
