Waste Management
Home > Resident Services > Public Health > Waste Management

The Shire of Mundaring operates a series of initiatives to manage waste disposal as well as recyclable material.

The vast majority of residents receive a weekly vergeside bin service as well as a fortnightly recycle bin service. To find out what day is your bin day and recycle week you find this information via the on-line mapping system located to the right of this page in Related Links or alternatively you may contact the Shire of Mundaring’s Health Service on 9290 6666.

Residents who receive a vergeside bin service are also entitled to an annual vergeside bulk collection. Please note that the dates for the 2009/10 season have not yet been confirmed yet with the contractor, however they are likely to be in the October to January period.

A pamphlet will be delivered into letterboxes of residents two weekends prior to the collection date, outlining set out requirements. Please do not place material on the verge more than two weeks before the collection. Material placed on the vergeside that is not in accordance with the requirements will not be picked up and you may be asked to remove it.

For further enquiries regarding the bulk collection, you may contact the Shire of Mundaring’s Health Service on 9290 6666 or closer to the pick up time you may contact the contractor’s direct (KRS) on 9526 2702.

Residents of the Shire of Mundaring are also entitled to access to the Shire’s transfer stations free of charge. They are conveniently located at:

  • Coppin Rd (Mundaring) – Saturday – Tuesday 8am-4pm
  • Mathieson Rd (Chidlow) – Thursday – Sunday 8am-4pm
  • Mayo Rd (Woorooloo) – Saturday – Sunday 8am-12.30pm

It is important to present your tip pass to the attendant or other form of proof that you are a resident of the Shire of Mundaring.

Most materials are accepted on a day to day basis with the exception being refrigerators that have not been certified as having been degassed or super six fencing or asbestos. Twice a year there is a household hazardous waste collection day at the Coppin Rd transfer station that is set up to take difficult to dispose of material such as paints, oils, batteries, chemicals, sharps, computers and gas cylinders.

For further information, please go to the R Gang website in Related Links, consult your Waste & Recycle Guide (that is included every year with the rates notice) or contact the Shire of Mundaring’s Health Service on 9290 6661.
