Greywater Systems

A greywater system is able to treat waste water from the bath, shower, washing machine and laundry trough (not toilet or kitchen) and can then be used for irrigating gardens.

If intending to install a greywater system an Application to Construct or Install an Apparatus for the Treatment of Sewage needs to be submitted to the Shire.

A number of factors will be considered when processing the application including the location of any existing effluent disposal systems, setbacks to buildings and boundaries, and ensuring the proposed system has the capacity to handle the expected volume of greywater.

Further information on greywater systems can be found at Department of Health – Greywater.
