The Shire's Health Services undertakes monthly sampling of all public aquatic facilities to ensure compliance with the Code of Practice for the Design, Construction, Operation, Management and Maintenance of Aquatic Facilities. Testing includes checking chlorine and pH levels and taking bacterial and amoebic samples for external analysis.
Environmental water bodies are monitored on a regular basis by the Shire to ensure that bacterial and amoeba levels do not exceed the recommended limits. Factors such as algal growth and high water temperatures can influence the safety of environmental waters.
