All buildings require the issue of a Building Licence by the relevant Local Government, prior to construction. If a building has been constructed without a Building Licence, the Local Government cannot issue a retrospective building approval, therefore the works carried out is deemed illegal.
Information handouts are available from the Shire. These provide assistance and guidelines on what action the Shire needs to take should it be notified that a building has been erected, added to or altered without the approval.
A request for copies of approved building plans can also be made through the Shire Administration, with lodgment of the request form and the payment of the appropriate fees, or a request form can be downloaded.
