The Shire's professional Building Surveyors aim to provide a safe and well-built environment by carrying out the statutory building role throughout the municipality. This enables a qualified person to assess your Building application to ensure compliance with building related legislation, Local Laws, and applicable standards prior to a Building Licence being issued.
Building Service staff liaise with the Shire's Town Planners, Environmental Health Officers and Engineers to ensure that appropriate standards are met.
Any person intending to build is required to submit to this local government plans and specifications of any proposed works for assessment and approval before the works commence. The term "building" includes any residence, pergola, outbuilding, garden shed, patio, carport, garage, swimming pool (above ground or below ground), spa, retaining wall, addition or alteration to any building.
Plans and specifications must be submitted in accordance with the requirements of the Building Regulations 1989. These are outlined in the Shire's Requirements for Building Plans Guide.
