Shire of Mundaring prides itself on being a leader in the provision of quality children services. As these are offered with a regional focus, the Administration Centre for Children Services is situated in Midvale, which lies within the boundaries of the neighbouring City of Swan.
The programs operated by the Shire of Mundaring are supported by the Commonwealth Government and aim to provide quality care to children while their parents are working, studying or requiring respite.
Midvale Early Childhood and Parenting Centre
The Midvale Early Childhood and Parenting Centre is a community based centre offering a long day care program for children between the ages of birth and five years. Housed in a well-equipped, purpose-built facility the Centre offers full time/part time care, a Kindergarten program for four year olds and Outside School Hours care for school age children.
Qualified and committed staff provide educationally based developmental programs designed according to individual needs and interests. A parenting focus is also offered to families with information sessions based on preparing children for school, learning for life and emotional intelligence and linking parents into local parent support groups. Midvale Early Childhood and Parenting Centre also provides Playgroups during school term.
Eastern Region Family Day Care
Family day care provides families with the unique opportunity to have their children participate in an early childhood education and care program, in small groups, in a home-based setting.
Children are nurtured and cared for in the homes of registered family day care educators who are resourced, supported and monitored through the Eastern Region Family Day Care service during their membership.
Eastern Region Family Day Care is a not for profit service sponsored by the Shire of Mundaring and approved through the Education and Care Regulatory Unit (Department for Communities WA).
Educators may care for babies and children up until the commencement of secondary school and often cater to the flexible hours required of parents as well as before and after school/kindy care and vacation care.
Educators bring a wealth of skills, knowledge and diversity to the team. Our members are predominantly throughout the local governments of Mundaring, Swan, Kalamunda, Belmont, Bassendean, Bayswater and Chittering with several educators located in other neighbouring areas.
If you are interested in family day care for your child or wish to start your own family day care business follow the Family Day Care links for more information and we look forward to hearing from you soon.
East Metro and Midlands Inclusion Support Agency
East Metro and Midlands Inclusion Support Agency is funded by federal government and sponsored by the Shire of Mundaring. The agency provides inclusion and professional support to mainstream children’s services that are registered as eligible with the Commonwealth Government. Assistance to access additional funding can also be provided to services in specific circumstances.
The services supported by the agency are in local and surrounding shires and include long day care, family day care, occasional care and out of school care programmes in rural and metropolitan regions.
Inclusion support helps the services to include children with additional needs/rights due to disability, cultural diversity and trauma or refugee experiences. The support provided is designed to enhance the overall quality of care for all children and to increase access and participation of all children and families in early education and care programmes.
Parents can ask their particular children’s service to access this specialised team. The inclusion support facilitators have a breadth of training and experience in the fields of child development, disability and early education.
