"Volunteers are not paid – not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless." (Sherry AndersoMundaring Men's Shed Thank a Volunteer Day 2008n)

The Shire of Mundaring acknowledges the efforts of volunteers as an integral part of our community wellbeing. Their invaluable contribution of work skills, life experience and continued support make a significant difference in many sectors of the community, and without their commitment many local organisations, events and services would simply cease to function. Our volunteers help to hold the fabric of our community together.

Thank a Volunteer Day 2008

The Shire of Mundaring holds an annual “Thank a Volunteer Day” celebration to recognise the enormous value that our volunteers add to the health and wellbeing of our community, and to acknowledge the support their family members also provide. The day usually includes a light lunch and entertainment for volunteers and their families.

Key volunteer groups from across all sectors of volunteering have been asked to nominate one or two members to attend Thank a Volunteer Day in the past. The day is held in November to recognise nominated volunteers for their outstanding contributions and accomplishments during the past year.

Shire President Cr Helen Dullard: “We are always thrilled with the continuing support and untiring work offered by our communities’ volunteers, and Thank a Volunteer Day helps to recognise the people who contribute so much to our community. Volunteers play a crucial role in our Shire, their participation enriches the quality of life for both individual volunteers and society at large. Most volunThank a Volunteer Day 2008teers are motivated by simply helping in the community and seldom ask for any thanks or recognition.”

Nominations are now open and we invite members of the community to nominate someone they feel deserves recognition.
