Become a School Volunteer Mentor:

Make a difference in a child’s life…The School Volunteer Program invites caring members of the community to become mentors of school students who, for various reasons, would benefit from the positive one-on-one interaction with an interested adult.

Mentors meet individually with a student during school time for one hour per week on an ongoing basis, with the aim of developing a relationship of trust and respect. Mentors provide guidance and assist with basic academic, social and life skills.

No specific qualifications are required, other than life experience, patience and empathy, although a sense of humour is also very helpful. The School Volunteer Program provides initial training and ongoing support.

For further information, please phone The School Volunteer Program on 9444 8646 or go to
www.svp.org.au.

OTHER VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES:

The Shire of Mundaring and Swan Volunteers

The Shire of Mundaring and Swan Volunteers have partnered together to assist volunteers in the Hills Area access volunteer opportunities. Swan Volunteers have an excellent web site resource, where groups or project and event organisers can list their volunteer positions currently available for prospective volunteers to browse.

Swan Volunteers is a free service helping volunteers find the community organisation most suited to their skills and interests, and community organisations find the volunteers most suited to their needs. The Swan Volunteers online service provides information about local volunteer positions and organisations.

As an interested volunteer, you can search the positions listed on this site for a match to your skills, interests and time availability. For more information about any position, who to contact and how to apply, please contact us by phone 9250 6421 or email swanvolunteers@swan.wa.gov.au.

As an organisation, registering with Swan Volunteers means you can post to the site as many volunteer positions as you like, free of charge.  If you have difficulty, please contact us on 9250 6421 or email swanvolunteers@swan.wa.gov.au.

Alternately, please feel free to drop into the Swan Volunteer Office, located in the Midland Library.

Other websites where volunteers can access positions available are listed on the right hand side of this page under Related Links.
