Trek the Trail - Sun 21 September 2008

This annual free event commences from Sculpture Park in Mundaring Sunday 21 September 2008 . Walkers and cyclists will travel 6km along the Railway Reserve spur line, passing through scenic forest country to the iconic Mundaring Weir.

Along the way, participants can enjoy art, entertainment and historical displays, as well as being able to experience the natural beauty of one of the State's best walking trails.

Cyclists will leave between 9.00am and 9.30am and walkers from 10.00am.

Free shuttle buses will be running along the trail to return trekkers to their cars and a cycle pick-up will also be available.

'On Yer Feet' Walks

The Shire of Mundaring and 'be active wa' have developed new walks for residents of Helena Valley , Glen Forrest, Mundaring and Chidlow.

'On Yer Feet' walks are designed to encourage local residents to be more active by providing well-marked routes, that are safe and accessible for all residents. Location specific brochures are available with route maps and exercise/walking tips.

Public events are exciting occasions for community togetherness and celebration. To ensure that these events maintain public health and safety standards the Health Service addresses the following issues:

  • Public exit from any temporary venue/ structure, in the case of an emergency.

  • Numbers of sanitary facilities and rubbish bins.

  • General safety issues.

  • Compliance of temporary food handling procedures/ premises with legislative and food safety requirements.

  • Impact of noise levels generated from the events on the surrounding neighbourhood.

  • Patronage numbers.
