SHIRE of Mundaring is working closely with Pindan to minimise construction delays at Mundaring Arena.
As the project nears completion, systems and finishes are being checked. A number of items have been identified that require finishing touches or rectification which will require additional time to complete. This will delay the practical completion handover to a later date than originally planned which will unfortunately postpone the proposed official opening of the $10.1m facility.
Shire President John Daw said the Shire had contacted local sporting clubs advising them of the delay.
"We understand their disappointment but we want to be able to provide them with a state-of-the-art building which is of the highest standard in every respect," Cr Daw said. "Although we are in the final stages of the project, it's important that we resolve any construction issues in order to be able to deliver to the community exactly what we promised."
Cr Daw said Council would be in regular contact with the sporting groups who planned to commence playing on the new courts in early 2018. "We appreciate everyone's patience and are doing everything we can to get the project finished as soon as possible," he said.
Mundaring Arena completion dates are currently being reviewed and will be made public as soon as they are finalised.
