SHIRE of Mundaring, in collaboration with Perth NRM, hosted a bushfire management workshop on 23 August 2017 as part of Perth NRM's Professional Development in Environmental Management Series.

The seminar, titled Post Bushfire Management in the Swan Region, focused on the critical stages of post bushfire planning and management.

Briony Moran, Co-ordinator of Environment and Sustainability at Shire of Mundaring and one of six panellists at the event, said the seminar aimed to build the knowledge and skills of those involved in post bushfire recovery, restoration and conservation in the Swan region.

"The event offered an opportunity for panellists to share their respective experiences and knowledge of managing environmental recovery after a bushfire," Ms Moran said.

"The discussion covered many aspects of post bushfire recovery including weed control, native animal recovery and managing the movement of machinery and people on site after the fire is out."

Facilitated by Perth NRM Sustainable Communities Manager Ingrid Sieler, the panel included City of Swan Fire and Emergency Co-ordinator Magnus Ohman, DBCA A/Regional Compliance Co-ordinator Matt Swan, DBCA Manager of Biodiversity Conversation Steve Easton, EMRC Environmental Projects Officer Jaya Vaughan and City of Swan Community Fire Management Officer Debbie Screen.

Staff from Local Government and State Government agencies and community leaders from the Swan region attended the event.
