Residents and business owners in the Shire of Mundaring will soon be asked to participate in the Shire's biennial perceptions survey.

An independent consultant is conducting the survey and for the first time since the Shire began collecting community perception data, all properties will receive a letter containing a unique, single-use code.

One member from each property will be invited to complete the survey online.

Chief Executive Officer, Jonathan Throssell, said the process would be similar to completing the recent Census.

"We are taking a two-fold approach to our Business and Community Perception Survey this year," he said.

"Invitations will be sent to all 15,000 properties, which includes businesses and residences, so that each has an opportunity to complete the survey and tell us about the areas we are doing well in, and where improvements are needed.

"In addition,  50 business owners and 150 randomly selected households will also be contacted by phone."

Mr Throssell said the survey would be open from 6 to 19 September.

"We want to hear from everyone in 2021," he added.

"Your opinions are valued as they allow the Shire to better understand the needs of our community including our business community and will help inform our future planning."

The survey will ask questions about the Shire's performance over the past 12 months. A wide range of topics including how well the Shire is delivering and maintaining current services and facilities; and how people rate their quality of life, are covered. Results will be published in December.

Everyone who completes the survey before 12 September will be entered into a draw to win one of 20 early bird prizes and all participants will be entered into the Grand Prize draw for a $500 eGift card.
