Celebrating Indigenous music with Twilight Tunes

The Shire's 'Summer of Entertainment Community Events Series', gets underway at Mundaring's Sculpture Park Amphitheatre on Sunday, December 1.

Perth based Indigenous choir Madjitil Moorna is set to delight the audience as the first act to perform.

Led by Aboriginal performers and songwriters, Madjitil Moorna is a unique community choir which sings contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander songs for healing and friendship. Songs are often performed in the local Noongar language.

The talented choir will be supported by award-winning Indigenous singer songwriter Phil Bartlett whose music has been described as 'heart-felt' and straight from the soul.

Madjital Moorna is the first in an exciting line-up of musicians who will perform at concerts as part of the Twilight Tunes component of the Shire's summer of entertainment.

Other concerts in the summer series include Cool Summer with Mundaring Folk 'n' Blues Club and Jazz in the park featuring tARQ.

All Twilight Tunes concerts will be held at the Sculpture Park Amphitheatre in Mundaring commencing at 4pm with the exception of the Australia Day concert, which will start at 6pm. People are encouraged to bring a blanket and/or low-backed chairs to sit on.

The series has been made possible thanks to partnerships with Perth Airport Corporation, Lotterywest, Mundaring Community Bank Branch of Bendigo Bank and the Mundaring Chamber of Commerce.

Details of each event will be shared on the Shire's Facebook page.
