SHIRE of Mundaring residents are encouraged to nominate worthy recipients for the upcoming Citizenship Awards.
Run yearly, Deputy Shire President Patrick Bertola said the yearly awards created a perfect opportunity to nominate a resident for their great achievements throughout the past year.
"The awards recognise and celebrate significant contributions to community life and active citizenship," he said.
"The Shire of Mundaring Citizenship Award acknowledges those over the age of 25, while a separate award recognises the efforts of our youth."
Cr Bertola said nominating someone for the award was a quick and easy process.
"While there is some criteria it is simply demonstrating through a few paragraphs that someone has made a significant contribution to the local community, shown demonstrated leadership on a community issue, introduced a significant initiative which has brought about positive change or has inspiring qualities as a role model for the community," he said.
"There are so many people doing wonderful things in our local area and this is a great way to show your appreciation for the work they have done."
Award winners will be acknowledged at the Australia Day Citizenship ceremony on 26 January.
Nominations are open until Friday 18 November 2016. Nomination forms are available from local libraries, the Shire Administration Building at 7000 Great Eastern Highway Mundaring, or online from www.mundaring.wa.gov.au.
