In regards to a recent newspaper article, dated Saturday 26th October 2019, Shire President Cr John Daw would like to clarify that he is fully supportive of Council's decision to recommend refusal of North Stoneville Structure Plan (SP34).
"I will continue to lobby for Council's position on North Stoneville Structure Plan 34 and initiate actions for sustainable planning processes," he said.
Shire of Mundaring Council voted unanimously to refuse the proposed plan at a Special Council Meeting on 27 September 2019.
The motion to recommend refusal of SP34 included reasons such as traffic management, bushfire risks, environmental damage and a lack of public transport in the proposed area.
The plan is currently being considered by the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC), the authority responsible for determining the outcome of the development.
