Contact registers introduced for COVID-19 tracing

Visitors to certain facilities within the Shire of Mundaring will be asked to register their contact details from 5 December 2020. 
From that date, particular businesses and organisations must maintain contact registers for potential WA Health Department COVID-19 contact tracing. 

If COVID-19 is detected in the WA community, contact registers will help to protect residents by enabling the WA Health Contact Team to quickly identify and assist anyone that may have been exposed to COVID-19.

Affected Shire facilities and venues will include:

  • Shire of Mundaring Reception
  • Shire of Mundaring Civic Area
  • Albert Facey Memorial Library Mundaring
  • Bilgoman Aquatic Centre
  • Boya Community Centre
  • Brown Park Community Centre
  • Katharine Susannah Prichard Library, Boya
  • Bruce Douglas Pavilion (excludes training and games)
  • Chidlow Recreation Oval Pavilion (excludes training and games)
  • Darlington Hall (excludes training and games)
  • Darlington Pavilion (excludes training and games)
  • Elsie Austin Oval Pavilion (excludes training and games)
  • Glen Forrest Hall
  • Hub of the Hills
  • Lake Leschenaultia Campgrounds
  • Les Olley Pavilion (excludes training and games)
  • Mount Helena Aquatic Centre
  • Mundaring Arena
  • Mundaring Hall
  • Mundaring Recreation Oval Pavilion (excludes training and games)
  • Mundaring Visitor Centre
  • Parkerville Hall
  • Parkerville Oval Pavilion (excludes training and games)
  • Sawyers Valley Hall (excludes training and games)

Visitors will be required to either scan the QR code on display at the entrances to these buildings or add their details to a hardcopy register.

Patrons will be asked to provide details of the location, date, name, telephone number and arrival time. Email addresses are optional.

The State government has developed a free app, SafeWA, which will enable a digital contact register system. Where a digital option is not available, patrons may be asked to complete a hardcopy register.

Businesses and venues identified by the government for maintaining a register include:
  • Food and licensed venues (restaurants, caf├ęs, bars, pubs, taverns, nightclubs);
  • Gyms, indoor sporting centres and pools;
  • Places of worship, and funeral parlours;
  • Beauty and personal care services including hairdressers and barbers;
  • Galleries and museums;
  • Cinemas, theatres and other entertainment venues;
  • Auction houses and real estate inspections;
  • Community facilities, libraries and halls;
  • function centres;
  • Accommodation facilities that already have check-in arrangements in place (i.e. hostels, hotels, large camp grounds).

How long does the Shire keep the details for?

The Shire must keep these details for 28 days. All information will be stored confidentially and securely.

1. Open the individual icon.

2. Enter your information.

3. Create a password.

4. Enter the security PIN sent via SMS to verify your account.

1. Open the SafeWA app.

2. Scan the venue or business's QR code to check in.

3. You can also add other people who are with you and do not have the app.

What are the requirements for outdoor sporting venues that involve indoor clubrooms, toilets etc?

For outdoor sporting venues that have indoor toilet, change room and function room facilities: There is no requirement for contact registration at indoor toilets, change rooms and function room facilities at outdoor sporting venues, if visiting these venues in connection with a sporting event. If the venue is being hired for a function, contact registration requirements apply in accordance with requirement for function centres.
