SHIRE of Mundaring wishes to apologise to residents and ratepayers who were sent a Fire and Burning Information Booklet containing an incorrect contact number for the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES).
The 16-page booklets were mailed, one to each household, as part of the 2017/18 Rates Pack in August 2017 with an electronic version also available on the Shire website.
The back page of the booklet incorrectly lists the contact number for the DFES public information line as 13 13 37. The correct number is 13 33 37, or 13 DFES.
Community Safety and Emergency Management Coordinator for Shire of Mundaring, Craig Cuthbert, said the Shire was working quickly to rectify the misprint.
"We apologise to the community who were supplied the incorrect phone number in error," he said.
"The Shire takes the safety of residents very seriously, particularly where a bushfire is concerned, and always aims to provide the community with factual information and resources.
"The Shire has contacted DFES and is working quickly to resolve the issue."
An updated web version of the document is now available on the Shire website. Residents are encouraged to make the change to the back of their fire information booklet and check fire plans to ensure the correct number is recorded.
