International Volunteer Day celebrations in the Shire of Mundaring will include a new expo this year, with local groups invited to express their interest in hosting a free stall.
Planning for a Connecting Community Expo, to coincide with the Shire's annual Celebrating Community Awards on Sunday 5 December, is underway.
Local community and sporting groups are encouraged to host a stall at Mundaring Arena from 9.30am to 11.30am.
Shire Chief Executive Officer, Jonathan Throssell, said the expo – which would be open to the public – was a new idea to bring all of the Shire's community groups together.
"The aim is to forge new partnerships, share ideas and celebrate the many volunteering opportunities and active programs on offer within the shire," he said.
"After a trying year for many, we hope the event will boost memberships for our sporting and not-for-profit groups, help groups engage with the broader community and highlight the invaluable work our volunteers do."
Groups will be asked to provide an activity at their stall to ensure a vibrant, interactive atmosphere.
