Low water levels at Lake Leschenaultia have created the opportunity for the removal of a number of potentially dangerous tree stumps from the water on the west side of the Lake.
Replenishment of the sand has enabled the beach area to be extended. It is anticipated that the increased beach area at the Lake will reduce the load on already existing beach areas during the busy summer period.
Improvements at the west beach have not only resulted in the creation of a safer swimming area, aesthetics have also been enhanced.
The upgrade work is supported by a replanting program for reed beds along the spillway at the northern boundary of the new beach allowing for the reconstruction of habitat for the Lakes birdlife.
Lake Leschenaultia continues to be a popular destination for both day trippers and international visitors.
A number of events will be held at the Lake in the coming months. Upcoming events include the ATTA (Australian Time Trials Association) Mountain Bike Time Trials on August 25, the Masters Open Water Swim on November 11, the Perth Trail Run on November 18 and the Elite Youth Triathlon on December 1 2018.
