SHIRE of Mundaring, in collaboration with the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council (EMRC), will host a dynamic three-week course teaching people practical ways to live a waste-wise lifestyle.
The Earth Carers Program is a free training initiative that consists of five sessions over three weeks. The course offered at Mundaring will cover topics including:
- Composting and worm farming
- Making your own green cleaning alternatives
- Tours of waste facilities
- Low waste living
- Waste management in Perth
The Shire's Environment and Sustainability Coordinator, Briony Moran, said the program was a great way to educate the community about waste reduction options and improve recycling practices.
"Past participants have been really enthusiastic about the course and how much they learned in three weeks," Ms Moran said.
"There are just so many ways to reduce household waste, reduce your environmental footprint, and save money as well."
The course comprises three Thursday evening presentations and two Saturday morning sessions including a composting and worm farming workshop and a visit to waste management facilities.
The course commences Thursday 16 November 2017 at the Shire of Mundaring Administration Building, 7000 Great Eastern Highway, Mundaring. A timetable is available via the EMRC website below or click here. Registrations are essential.
