SENIORS in the hills community are invited to attend the LiveLighter Seniors Activity Information Day, jointly presented by Shire of Mundaring and Seniors Recreation Council of WA (SRCWA).
To be held at Brown Park Community Centre, Salisbury Road, Swan View, from 10am to 1.30pm on Wednesday 27 June, the event will give attendees the opportunity to connect with other seniors in the hills community and have a go at a variety of activities.
A number of local community groups, volunteers and service providers will also be present to network with seniors and provide information through a variety of displays.
The LiveLighter Seniors event aims to highlight the importance of social inclusion while encouraging people of all abilities to participate in the community in a safe and relaxing environment.
Shire President John Daw said it was extremely important that seniors are provided with as many opportunities as possible to live an active, safe and productive life. "This includes being given access to local community groups, volunteers and services providers," he said.
The SRCWA will have a variety of activities on offer for seniors to try, such as Xbox Kinect, seated hockey, shuffle ball, mini golf, quoits and (weather permitting) pole walking. Seniors are encouraged to wear flat shoes, so they can also have a go at the carpet bowls.
A light lunch and refreshments will be provided. Please note that RSVP is essential for this event. Interested community members are asked to call Dawn Yates (SRCWA) on 9492 9773 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to secure their place.
To ensure the Shire and SRCWA provide a welcoming and inclusive event, please contact SRCWA to let us know if you have any access or inclusion requirements.
