Mobile Vendor Policy draws crowds in Mundaring

‚ÄčThere has been great community feedback since the introduction of mobile vendors by the Shire of Mundaring in mid-2017.

Council approved the Mobile Vendor Policy following a number of requests from businesses to operate on shire land. Mobile vendors have the advantage of being able to travel to their customers in areas that will very likely result in a successful day at the office!

This has already been the case for some businesses, in particular those operating at Sculpture Park in Mundaring. So far, five vendors have received approval to operate at the site.

Shire President John Daw said not only have they reported great feedback, they have also received rave reviews from customers, which have been widely shared on social media.

A recent example is Mopoke Coffee, currently operating from Sculpture Park in Mundaring. Owned by Kate Kendrick, Mopoke Coffee has had such great success that they have been voted "Best Coffee in Perth" by listeners to "The Jam" with Janelle and Sam on FM radio station 94.5.

"It means that we are fulfilling our mission to make the best coffee we can," Kate said. "It's a big deal to us."

Cr Daw said he anticipated businesses operating at other locations, such as Brown Park, will soon experience similar success over summer and as the community becomes more aware of their presence.

"Mobile vendors build atmosphere and a community vibe in public places," he said. "When you add a great cup of coffee to the mix, you're sure to draw a large crowd!".

There is still availability for mobile vendors to operate. For more information, contact shire@mundaring.wa.gov.au. The EOI form and Policy can be found by clicking here.
