Mundaring Arena lives up to expectations

Mundaring Arena held its first major tournament last week when it played host to the 2018 Smarter than Smoking Hockey WA Junior Indoor Club Championships.

Eighteen teams, comprising approximately 200 players, participated in the carnival. All were vying for the titles of Hockey WA Champion Club for their grade.

People travelled from as far away as Esperance, Bunbury and Mandurah to attend the 3 day tournament.

While local basketball and netball associations have been enjoying all the Arena has to offer since the commencement of their winter seasons this year, this was the Mundaring Arena's first major test.

Acting Manager Recreation and Leisure, Stewart Winfield, said he was delighted to see the large number of people enjoying the Shire's newest facility.

President Hills Night Hockey Association, Mary Ball, reported that the venue passed the potential challenge with flying colours.

"Everyone was so impressed with the Arena and it gave many hills people the opportunity to see how the game is really played" Mrs Ball said.
