Shire of Mundaring Councillors are aware that there is some concern in the community about proposed rate increases. In order to respond to these concerns, we are willing to test proposals that would address this.
Following a series of workshops, Council has prioritised areas in which they believe a reduction in services could help achieve lower rate increases. These are genuine proposals to reduce service levels and costs with as little negative impact as possible.
Council remains open-minded about the proposals and will listen to the community's feedback.
The proposal will see the forecast rates increase of five percent in 2017/18, reduced to around three percent. This equates to an average estimated increase of $45 per year per household as opposed to $75 per year per household (for the average residential rates).
We recently invited community feedback on the proposals which are currently under review. It will help shape the Shire's Corporate Business Plan and Long Term Financial Plan over the next 10 years.
Council will soon meet to discuss the results of the survey. We would like to thank everyone who participated in the survey for their valuable contribution. We look forward to sharing the results with our community in the near future.
