Assets Manager Rene Baur watch steel frame go in at Mundaring Recreation Centre
CONSTRUCTION of the Mundaring Recreation Centre reached a milestone this week with the building's steel frame now in place at the Weir Road site.
Site works began in November 2016 after PINDAN was awarded the tender for the project in 2015.
Shire President David Lavell said the installation of the steel frame marked exciting progress in the centre's construction.
"It's great to see the Mundaring Recreation Centre starting to take shape," he said.
"The centre has been greatly anticipated by the community and, once completed, will meet growing local demand for high-quality sports facilities in the hills area."
Comprising several indoor courts in a 4000m2 area, the new centre will cater for a variety of sports including basketball, netball, volleyball, hockey, badminton and soccer.
The $10.1 million state-of-the-art centre received State Government funding of $3 million and further financial support from Bendigo Bank's Mundaring branch and local sporting groups.
The Mundaring Recreation Centre is scheduled for completion towards the end of 2017.
