SHIRE of Mundaring is reminding residents that burning is prohibited as of 1 December 2018.
Shire of Mundaring Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Throssell said people had a responsibility to their community to abide by the rules.
"The Prohibited Burning Period runs from 1 December until 31 March inclusive, subject to conditions. During this time there is to be no burning of any kind," he said.
"The safety of our community is paramount. During the summer months it doesn't take much for a fire to start, and as we have seen in recent years the impact is devastating. We ask all people who see a fire to call 000 and immediately report it."
Mr Throssell said he encouraged residents to prepare their properties for summer as per the instructions in the Shire's Fire and Burning Information Booklet, available in this year's rates pack and also online.
"In addition to preparing your property, you should also have a practised fire plan in place which outlines what you and your family will do in the case of an emergency," he said.
Mr Throssell encouraged residents wanting to put their plans to the test to participate in the Shire's Facebook event 'Test Your Bushfire Survival Plan' at 6.30pm on Wednesday 28 November.
