RESIDENTS are reminded that burning is prohibited at all times as of 1 December.
Shire of Mundaring Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Throssell said people had a responsibility to their community to abide by the rules.
"The Prohibited Burning Period runs from 1 December until 31 March, subject to conditions. During this time there is to be no burning of any kind," he said.
"The safety of our community is paramount. During the summer months it doesn't take much for a fire to start, and as we have seen in recent years the impact is devastating. We ask all people who see a fire to call 000 and immediately report it."
Mr Throssell said he encouraged residents to prepare their properties for the fire season as per the instructions in the Shire's Fire and Burning Information Booklet.
"In addition to preparing your property, you should also have a practised fire plan in place which outlines what you and your family will do in the case of an emergency," he said.
