SHIRE of Mundaring residents are reminded that burning is prohibited at all times as of 1 December.
Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Throssell said people had a responsibility to their community to abide by the rules.
"The Prohibited Burning Period runs from 1 December until 31 March, subject to conditions. During this time there is to be no burning of any kind," he said
"The safety of our community is paramount. During the summer months it doesn't take much for a fire to start, and as we have seen in recent years the impacts are devastating.
"We ask all people who see a fire to call 000 and immediately report it."
Mr Throssell said residents should now be preparing their properties for the fire season.
"Until 1 December residents can still burn single 1sqm piles after 6pm, provided they meet all conditions set out in the Fire and Burning Information Booklet," he said.
"There are also a range of alternatives to burning, including unlimited disposal of green waste at the waste transfer stations for ratepayers.
"In addition to preparing your property you should have a fire plan in place which outlines what you and your family will do in the case of an emergency."
Residents are encouraged to sign up for the Shire's Test Your Bush Fire Survival Plan Day event, run through Facebook at 7pm on Tuesday 29 November.
The 30 minute exercise presents a range of scenarios every five minutes for your family to respond to and ensure your plan works. For more information like the event on the Shire's Facebook page www.fb.com/shireofmundaring
