Recruiting and retaining volunteers - with a twist!

SHIRE of Mundaring in partnership with Volunteering WA will run a free volunteering information session on Tuesday 21 May 2019.

Manager libraries and community engagement, Shannon Foster, said the session would coincide with National Volunteer Week (20 – 26 May).

"This year's theme is Making a world of difference, which captures how our small actions as volunteers can have a very big and meaningful impact on others around us," said Ms Foster.

"This information session is a great opportunity for people to gain a different perspective on how to recruit new members and volunteers for their organisation as well as how to future-proof their organisation."

Topics covered in the session will include:

  • Generational expectations of the volunteer experience
  • Volunteer rights and responsibilities
  • How to attract younger volunteers
  • Future-proof your organisation by doing a few things differently

"For many organisations, retaining volunteers can be difficult. This session provides an insight into the expectations of young people who volunteer and tips on how to recruit and retain them for the long term sustainability of the organisation," said Ms Foster.

The event will be held between 6pm and 8.30pm at Shire of Mundaring Civic Reception Room, 7000 Great Eastern Highway, Mundaring.

The event is made possible thanks to support from Volunteering WA and Lotterywest.
