Shire of Mundaring offered a free program of activities for young people over the July school holidays and there was something for everyone!
The school holiday program was endorsed at an Ordinary Council meeting held on 12 June 2018. It followed a decision to adopt a new approach to delivering youth services.
Activities were diverse and ranged from skateboarding clinics to craft activities and ended with a movie night. The activities were held at various locations around the Shire to maximise participation.
Manager Libraries and Community Engagement, Shannon Foster, said that the Shire was very happy with the number of young people who attended the school holiday activities.
"General feedback showed that activities were enjoyed by all that attended," Ms Foster said. "Several parents expressed their joy at being able to participate in the skateboarding clinics alongside their children".
The new Youth Service Model will allow community groups to apply to the Shire for funding for youth activities.
Ms Foster said "Shire of Mundaring is keen to hear from its local young people on an ongoing basis".
