MUNDARING Community Sculpture Park playground is set to open on Sunday 13 March with a free community event.
Shire President David Lavell said this was an exciting time for the community as they looked forward to using the area once again.
"We know how much the community loves the Park and we are happy to announce that the play zone is nearly ready to explore," he said.
"Children will be able to enjoy a range of new equipment and a nature play area. One of the key attractions is the Ornate Crevice Dragon located in the sandpit, where children can dig for her eggs and insects.
"There is also the boardwalk tunnel onto the equipment and rocks to climb over. With ramps, soft fall and many accessible equipment pieces, this is an inclusive playground for the whole community."
Cr Lavell said the play zone was one component of the Park's $1.06million redevelopment, which was on time and on budget.
"This is a significant redevelopment which still has many stages before it is fully completed," he said.
"Work will soon begin on the picnic zone, which involves new shelters, BBQs, extended lawn areas and a re-alignment of Railway Reserves Heritage Trail."
The opening of Mundaring Community Sculpture Park playground runs from 9am to 12pm. Activities include face painting, a treasure hunt and roving entertainment.
Other events happening nearby on the day include:
The Shire has been working closely with Mundaring Arts Centre on many elements of the Park. The redevelopment is supported by Lotterywest and the Department of Parks and Wildlife.
