If you've ever wondered what species of birds are regular visitors to your garden or local reserve, there is an opportunity to find out more at an upcoming workshop at Shire of Mundaring, titled Birds in Your Garden.
The workshop, scheduled for Saturday, 4 November at 9:30am-12:30pm, will be hosted by Rachel and Mike Green of the Darling Range Branch of the WA Naturalists Club .
The knowledgeable duo own a property in the hills area which has received a 'Land for Wildlife' status due to the number of birds recorded at the premises.
At the workshop, Rachel and Mike will provide assistance on what to look for when identifying various birds. They will discuss food sources, birdbaths, bird perches and bird boxes as well as a general overview about how to care for birds. Mike has even promised to share the secret art of "bird shushing", which he claims encourage them to move closer towards him.
Rachel will be armed with dozens of spectacular photographs and footage at the workshop to help people practise their skills in identifying different birds.
Attendees are invited to bring along photos of birds they have spotted in the area and would like to know more about.
If you would like to attend the Birds in Your Garden workshop, please register your interest by contacting the Shire on 9290 6651 or email firstname.lastname@example.org by 30 October. Morning tea will be provided.
