HUNDREDS of families have enjoyed Shire of Mundaring's outdoor movies so far this year with one more event still to go.
Shire President John Daw said the annual Cinema Under Starlight program had proved popular once again.
"The community's response has been excellent with around 300 to 400 people attending each cinema event in Mundaring, Swan View, Mount Helena and Wooroloo so far,' said Cr Daw.
"It's great to see families getting out of the house to enjoy free activities and movies at our local parks and ovals."
The final movie for the season, 'Wonder', will be shown at Darlington Oval on Saturday 9 March.
Based on the New York Times bestseller, Wonder tells the inspiring and hear-warming story of August Pullman, a boy with facial differences who begins mainstream schooling for the first time in the fifth grade. The movie's important take-home messages of compassion and acceptance not only make it enjoyable but educational for the whole family.
Movie-goers are welcome to bring a picnic and a blanket or low-backed chairs to sit on. Mundaring Girl Guides will also provide a selection of snacks and refreshments available to purchase.
Free kids' activities and entertainment will kick-off from 6pm before the movie starts at sundown. Plus, simply download and
complete this year’s kids’ colouring competition from the Shire website, fill-in
your contact details, and return to our friendly Cinema Under Starlight staff
at any of this year’s movie screenings and the kids will go in the draw to win
some fantastic prizes!
Hard-copy colouring competitions are also available from the Shire Administration Building, Shire libraries, Bendigo Bank Mundaring, and Mundaring Visitor Centre.
Cr Daw said the Shire was pleased to collaborate with its sponsors on this year's events.
"Shire of Mundaring would like to thank Perth Airport, Lotterywest, Acciona Trility Joint Reserve, Australia Post, Linley Valley Pork and Mundaring Community Bank Branch - Bendigo Bank for their support in making Cinema Under Starlight possible."
