LOCAL sporting clubs have returned from holidays to a brand new playing surface at Shire of Mundaring's Brown Park Community Centre.
Manager Recreation and Leisure Services Kirk Kitchin said the court's surface had been replaced over the past three weeks.
"The floor's surface has changed dramatically from the old one and will offer a higher level of comfort for our users," he said.
"While the surface is a completely different colour, it's what is underneath that will make all the difference. Six tonnes of rubber matting sits under the 1.5 tonnes of polyurethane coating.
"There are no seams or joints in the surface as it was completed in one pour, and it will be far easier to repair if it sustains any damage."
The surface is marked with one basketball and netball court each, and four badminton courts.
"The netball competition was interrupted for an extra week outside of school holidays to allow the floor to cure properly," Mr Kitchin said.
"This is a fantastic new court for our users and we hope players enjoy the cushioning it provides."
The new court cost around $80,000 and includes new anchor points for gymnastics and badminton, plus new netball goal posts.
