SHIRE of Mundaring in partnership with Swan Volunteer Resource Centre will run a free volunteering information session on Monday 21 May 2018.
Manager libraries and community engagement, Shannon Foster, said the session would coincide with National Volunteer Week (21 - 27 May).
"This year's theme is Give a little. Change a lot, which really captures what volunteering is all about; giving something of yours, whether that be your time or a particular skill, and using that to create positive change," said Ms Foster.
"This information session is a great opportunity for people to explore the ways that they can get involved in their community and find out exactly what is required of a volunteer."
Topics covered in the session will include:
- The benefits of volunteering
- Available volunteering opportunities
- The skills that you have to contribute to volunteering
- The rights and responsibilities of volunteers
- How to find the right volunteering position
"For many people, volunteering is something they often think about doing but don't know how to get started. The Step into Volunteering session provides a great first step towards becoming a volunteer," said Ms Foster.
The event will be held between 6pm and 8pm at Boya Community Centre, 119-135 Scott Street, Boya.
Step into Volunteering is made possible thanks to support from Volunteering WA and Lotterywest.
