A SHIRE of Mundaring report regarding proposed modifications to the North Stoneville Townsite Structure Plan (SP34) can be accessed on the website, here.
The report, which will be considered at a Special Council Meeting on Tuesday, 27 August, recommends refusal of SP34 due to the absence of a co-ordinated response to road infrastructure.
In the report, Shire officers acknowledge the community and agency feedback and - based on an assessment of anticipated traffic growth - they have advised that there is currently a lack of certainty that such growth could be safely accommodated within the district and regional road network.
In addition, Main Roads WA has determined that there is insufficient capacity at Great Eastern Highway to accommodate the volumes of traffic anticipated by the plan. Therefore further mitigation measures need to be investigated by the applicant, Satterley Property Group.
The report recommends that modifications to SP34 ensure Western Australian Planning Commission's (WAPC) decision is informed by both local views and the Shire's assessment. (WAPC is the authority responsible for determining the outcome of SP34).
There is also an opportunity for community members to present their views at the Special Council Meeting by way of a deputation. The Shire's Meeting Procedures Local Law 2015 allows a period of time for deputations, noting that each deputation is limited to a maximum of three minutes.
If you wish to present a deputation you must register an interest with the Shire via email - email@example.com (ensuring you include Special Council Meeting 27 August 2019 in the subject field. Please include your name and preferred contact details in the body of the email). However, due to the high level of community interest in SP34, it is anticipated that opportunities for deputations will be limited due to time constraints.
The Special Council Meeting will be held in the Shire's Civic Area (located next to the Council Chamber) at 7000 Great Eastern Highway, Mundaring.
A copy of the report and schedule of submissions is available here or via the Shire's website, www.mundaring.wa.gov.au then click on the 'Public Notices' tab on the homepage.
