SHIRE of Mundaring congratulates all of the amateur photographers who entered the 'What on Earth' Plants and Pollinators photography competition this month.
Mundaring Arts Centre received almost 100 stunning entries and the best 40 works - according to composition, theme, balance and clarity of image - have been selected for a free exhibition at the Boya Community Centre from September 3 to 18 November.
A range of exceptional amateur photographers are among the finalists, including four young people.
The first prize was awarded to Beth Baker (for her image titled 'Eucalyptus rhodantha' pictured above) and Jenny Utting took home second prize for 'Buzzing Around' (below).
A fun 'What on Earth' Open Day 'plants the seed of creativity' will also take place in the town centre on Sunday 29 September from 10am to 3pm.
Community groups, artists and businesses from across WA will come together to showcase their botanical passion, with a plethora of plant sales, interactive art activities, natural dyeing demonstrations, environmental displays and more.
The Mundaring Arts Centre, Hall, District Museum, Library, Sculpture Park, Station Masters House, Craigie Place and surrounds will be 'blossoming' with a cross-pollination of hands on activities, food, displays, talks and locally crafted things to buy.
Mundaring Shire is proud to support these events. For more information see https://mundaringartscentre.com.au/what-on-earth-2019
