Seniors in the Shire of Mundaring had the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities at the recent LiveLighter Seniors Activity Information Day.
Shire President David Lavell said the Shire was pleased to co-host the event with Seniors Recreation Council of WA (SRCWA).
The activity day, which was held at The Hub of The Hills on Thursday 29 June, attracted more than 125 people.
"The day offered a great chance for local senior groups, service providers and local residents to come together to connect, network, share information and try many of the activities," Cr Lavell said.
Activities offered seniors the chance to try seated hockey, shuffle ball, pole walking, Xbox Kinect and carpet bowls, which was co-ordinated by Mundaring Seniors Carpet Bowls.
A number of local community groups, including Mt Helena and Parkerville Country Women's Association and Chidlow Spinner & Craft & Quilting Group, joined local service providers, Shire of Mundaring and Mundaring Visitors Centre to provide information displays.
Popular community group, the Men's Shed also opened its doors to interested visitors.
Cr Lavell said the Shire recognised the importance of local seniors being well informed about activities available to them in the Shire.
"An event like this also offers the opportunity for providers and community groups to network with seniors, showcase their services, share ideas and promote the importance of being active in their community."
