Shire of Mundaring was proud to support the recent spring school holiday program Being the Best You! coordinated by the Swan Districts Football Club.
The free program, was specifically designed for 12 to 17 year olds with the aim of building and fostering confidence, wellbeing and a sense of belonging while teaching life skills. The Shire has contributed financial support for the program through the Youth Engagement Partnership Fund.
"We're delighted to have the opportunity facilitate such a great initiative for our local youth – the Being the Best You! program aligns with Shire's strategic objective to support and engage young people in our community," President John Daw said of the Shire's contribution to the program.
The spring school holiday program sessions included a range of activities catering for all interests from a skateboard designing session to a Lake Leschenaultia Adventure day and a Bibbulmun Cultural Walk.
The Shire of Mundaring Youth Engagement Partnership Fund provides a funding pool of up to $35,000 each financial year to community groups delivering initiatives that are aligned to the objectives of the Shire's youth services model.
Funded initiatives must be community driven and actively engage young people, developing personal and life skills and increasing opportunities for participation. Programs that build resilience and enable young people to connect whilst having fun are highly regarded.
