RESIDENTS are being encouraged to recognise the work of local volunteers.
Each year Shire of Mundaring hosts Thank a Volunteer Day (TAVD) to acknowledge those who give tirelessly in the community.
Deputy Shire President Patrick Bertola said nominations for 2016 were now open.
"TAVD is a well-respected event where people show appreciation for local volunteers and all that they do," he said.
"From getting involved with kid's sport, helping with youths, picking up rubbish or being involved with a local community group, there are thousands of people in our community who deserve recognition."
Volunteers can be nominated under six separate categories:
- Community / Other Groups
- Environment / Arts
- School Groups (including P&C volunteers)
- Sporting Groups
- Emergency Services
- Lifetime Contributor (for any volunteer who has continuously volunteered with an organisation for many years OR who has volunteered across multiple organisations)
Cr Bertola said people who were nominated would be invited to attend a special ceremony in November.
"This is a great chance for helpers to sit back for once and enjoy a lovely lunch and gift," he said.
"The Shire is proud to run this event and support our local volunteers."
Nominations for TAVD close 31 October 2016. Complete the online form at www.mundaring.wa.gov.au or contact Rachael on 9290 6773 or email@example.com
