LOCAL volunteer firefighters are set to give people a rare insight into what they regularly face throughout the bushfire season.
Representatives from several brigades have recently been fitted with specialised helmet cameras, the result of a partnership between Shire of Mundaring and Sea Dog TV International, producers of the TV documentary series, Bushfire Wars.
The first season of Bushfire Wars aired on Foxtel's National Geographic channel earlier this year. It was one of the highest rating programs across the platform and as such, filming for series two is now underway.
Shire President John Daw said the organisation was approached by the producers of Bushfire Wars as the team became aware of the incredibly hard work carried out by volunteer firefighters when the first series was filmed.
"Some of our volunteers appeared in Bushfire Wars Series One by chance as they happened to be on the scene at the time of filming," Cr Daw said.
"The specialised helmet cameras will allow for a greater focus on the invaluable work carried out by the volunteers."
The first series of Bushfire Wars followed the work of Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) Parks and Wildlife Team. Footage captured from a firefighter's perspective will give viewers a terrifying and intimate window into a world rarely seen.
Shire of Mundaring co-ordinates a number of volunteer bushfire brigades that play an instrumental role in keeping the community safe. If you would like to know more about the brigades, see https://bit.ly/381Z7Pg.
Bushfire Wars Season 1 will screen on free to air TV in early 2020.
