FREE workshops will be held next month to help Shire of Mundaring residents reduce fuel loads on their properties.
Shire of Mundaring Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Throssell said workshops would commence on Sunday, 17 June and run for five consecutive Sundays.
Residents will learn from shire officers and local volunteer brigade members how to safely reduce fuel loads on their property through a number of methods, including burning.
Mr Throssell said it was important that residents managed their fuel loads appropriately.
"Reducing fuel loads during the cooler months assists local brigades in the warmer months when fire is such a threat to our area," he said. "We have been running these workshops for several years now and they've always proven to be very popular, providing people will all the correct tools and techniques to help them manage their properties."
"It's vitally important that people have the confidence and knowledge to implement their own winter burning regime that can continue as soon as the prohibited burning period ends," Mr Throssell said.
Expressions of interest for the free burning workshops can be sent to Deputy Chief Bushfire Control Officer Cameron Greaves via BFCO@mundaring.wa.gov.au
