A message from Shire President John Daw

Published 2pm, Tuesday 2 February

We care about our community and we are here to help. What we know so far is it remains an uncontrolled and uncontained fire. There have been some property losses which is a tragedy for our community.

But we know that our community is resilient and we will work together to support those who have lost property, pets, livestock and possessions.

What we don't know yet is the full extent of the damage this fire has caused. It is still a dangerous fire.

We don't how many people have been affected but we know that DFES is working hard to identify which properties may have been lost so affected owners can be informed.

We will be working with the City of Swan to help our communities recover from this terrible tragedy.

What can you do?

You can continue to observe the warnings and alerts from DFES and be patient. Stay safe, keep in communication with your loved ones and neighbours and take care.

Finally, I would like to thank all the emergency workers including career and volunteer firefighters, SES, police, medical and others who have worked tirelessly and continue to do so during this emergency.

To the Shire of Mundaring community, we will get through this just as we have done in the past.
