Talks, Events & Volunteering

Talks and Workshops

There are regular talks and workshops on local environment or sustainability themes throughout the year.  Check the Events Calendar for upcoming events.

Living Smart – Small Footprint Lifestyles course will run at the Hub of the Hills on Thursday evenings, starting 13 June.  Participants will learn practical ways to reduce their environmental impact.  This is very good value and places are limited - to register please visit

Bush Skills for the Hills

Bush Skills for the Hills is a series of free, hills-focussed nature workshops. The workshops are a mix of information and practical hands-on sessions designed to give participants both the why and how of managing land, bush and creeks in the hills environment.  This is a joint initiative between the Shire of Mundaring, City of Swan, City of Kalamunda and Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council (EMRC) so workshop locations will vary.

The EMRC will be adding upcoming Bush Skills for the Hills workshops to eventbrite, and they are also listed in the hills environmental newsletter Greenpage:

Volunteering Opportunities

The Shire has many friends groups that undertake bushcare and landcare activities in reserves and on private property voluntarily. There are also five catchment groups that manage natural resources across the Shire around rivers or water bodies.
